7 Day Detox And Quitting Smoking

Friday, August 20th, 2010

I just wanted to stop in and talk to you guys a little bit about my efforts at detoxifying my body.

One of the more popular articles on our site is the 7 day detox diet that involves pretty much cutting everything out of your daily diet that can be bad for you.  No booze or fried foods or cigarettes, that kind of thing. Well it isn’t all that hard to do, and if you really put your mind to it you can get it done.

I am 5 days into quitting smoking and my body is feeling better already. I can breath, I can smell, and my teeth are already getting whiter. Accept for the coffee stains. :p Anyway  I may not be doing the whole detox diet thing, but just getting the smoke out of my lungs of a week feels good.

Now I don’t plan on going back to smoking anytime soon, because the goal isn’t just 7 days and yours shouldn’t be either. But I just wanted to say that if you really want to get something done you can do it. Whether it be the whole detox diet or just part of getting healthy.

The most important thing about detox is not getting thin quickly, but becoming a healthier person.  Use the diet to help achieve health and not just the short term goal.

7 Day Vegetarian Diet

The 7 Day Vegetarian Diet and Me:

The importance of meat in a diet has been debated by carnivores and herbivores for decades.  We meat eaters pretty much think most vegetarians are crazy hippies that don’t get enough protein, and the vegetarians think we just don’t care enough about animals.  It doesn’t really matter what side of the fence you are on, what matters is knowing and doing what is best for you when it comes to your health.   So today I put my bias aside and we cover the 7 Day Vegetarian Diet.

This 7 day diet isn’t just for vegetarians, in fact I know many meat lovers that have done short term vegetarian diets before because the increased amount of vegetables in their diet and the removal of many fats from meat can help you lose weight quickly. So instead of focusing on a long term plan to become a vegetarian this diet focuses on creating 7 days worth of healthy and balanced vegetarian meals that will satisfy your hunger and help you lose weight.

About the 7 Day Vegetarian Diet:

The information in this article is referenced from ivillage.co.uk where they have a 5 page guide to Dr. Wynnie Chan’s 7-day vegetarian diet plan. Instead of rewriting their entire article I am going to summarize some of the main points and highlight a few of the meals that sound most delicious to me. If you would like to read the entire article follow this link.

The 7 Day Vegetarian Diet, is not a strict meal plan, in fact it is quite relaxed.  To begin the diet you should peruse the list of menu items and sit down with a pen and decide which ones sound best to you and then “mix and match” meals that peak your interest. As long as you reach the recommended 1400 calories per day and eat items listed on the menu you are doing it correctly.

Like most well balanced and thought out diets the 7 day vegetarian diet suggests eating 3 meals and 2 snacks a day.  Many nutritionist believe it is easier to control portions and hunger with 5 small meals than it is with 2 or 3 large ones.

Outside of the foods suggested the author of the diet have room for some slip ups which she calls allowances.  So if you are really itching for a treat have one of the follow “allowances” per week.

  • 2 glasses of wine (93cals, 0g fat)
  • 48g chocolate bar (e.g. milk chocolate: 250cals, 15g fat; plain chocolate 245cals, 13g fat)
  • 70g slice of cake (e.g. fruit cake: 254cals, 11g fat; chocolate cake: 319cals, 20.1g fat; Swiss roll 193cal)

My Favorite 7 Day Vegetarian Diet Breakfast:

We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but we tend to overlook it.  But here is one I think we will agree upon because it is quick and delicious.

1 bowl of instant porridge (made with 1/4 pint skimmed milk) topped with 60g fresh chopped strawberries, followed by a bowl of fig, melon and banana salad with crystallised ginger (mix 100g sliced banana, 55g halved figs, 100g chopped honeydew melon and 10g chopped crystallised ginger together; chill until ready to eat).(307cals, 2.5g fat)

My Favorite 7 Day Vegetarian Diet Lunch:

Most of us working full time jobs in the US are lucky to get 30 minutes in a crowded break room for lunch, so it is imperative that we have something easy to eat quickly that doesn’t cost a lot of money. The following lunch does exactly that.

1 bowl (300g) canned lentil soup, followed by 1 plain toasted bagel (70g) filled with 30g hummus and 40g grated carrots.(352cals, 5.8g fat)

My Favorite 7 Day Vegetarian Diet Dinner:

I am not a gourmet chef, but I love good food and don’t mind taking my time to cook it. So I picked something a little more over the top because after a long hard day of work I would like to open that bottle of wine and sit down with a fine dinner.

Vegetable moussaka, plus yoghurt dessert
1 portion of vegetable moussaka, followed by 1 pot (125g) of diet bio yoghurt with 120g stewed prunes. For the vegetable moussaka you’ll need 500g aubergines, thinly sliced, 120g corn oil, 225g onions, thinly sliced, 5g garlic, crushed, 225 chopped mushrooms, 280g cooked red split lentils, a handful of torn basil leaves, 2 bay leaves, 25g tomato puree, 250g tomatoes, sliced, 500g boiled potatoes, 500g white sauce made with skimmed milk, 2 small eggs and 150g grated mature cheddar cheese. Fry the aubergines with half of the oil and drain. Fry the onions and garlic in the remaining oil and add the mushrooms, lentils and tomato puree. Now add the bay leaves and basil leaves, season, cook for 5 minutes and spread onto the bottom of an ovenproof dish. Layer with aubergines, followed by the tomatoes and then the potatoes. Beat the eggs into the white sauce and pour over the potatoes; sprinkle over the cheese and bake at 180C/350F/gas mark 4 for 25-30 minutes. (Serves 4).(560cals, 21.2g fat)

My Favorite 7 Day Vegetarin Diet Snacks:

To me this is just to obvious. A snack is small and healthy and filling. Almonds will always be my snack of choice whether they are on the diet or not.

So there you have it. A brief intro to the 7 day vegetarian diet, would you try it?

7 Day Plan for Weight Loss

Are you looking for a plan to lose weight quickly, or a plan to live a healthier life style?

That simple question can really prove to be game changer when you are looking at the different 7 Day Plans for Weigh Loss.  There are so many 7 day diets available for you to choose from and each one of them seems to have different requirements and different goals.

For example in another article I wrote recently about 7 day diet plans I describe 3 different plans that are all supposed to help you lose weight, 1 is a fad diet that requires a ridiculously strict eating plan and no exercise, another is a 7 day meal plan that actually sets you up with a weeks worth of nutritional meals that you repeat for the next 4 weeks, and the third is somewhere in between.

A good 7 day plan for weight loss will most likely last much longer than 7 days.  I know that doesn’t make much sense but 7 days is almost the perfect amount of time for you to create a habit and that is what dieting is all about.  Creating new healthy habits that help change your old methods of eating and exercise so that you can lose weigh in the short term, but also be set up to live a healthier life in the long term.

An example of a great 7 day diet plan for weight loss is the Abs Diet from Men’s Health Editor Dave Zinzcenko.  This plan sets you up with a weeks worth of meals and the knowledge as to why they will help you lose weight.  In fact the plan if done for two weeks is supposed to help you lose up to 10 pounds.  But the diet is much more than 1 week of healthy eating.

It is a build up for you to buy the Abs Diet book which will give you a wealth of knowledge about diet plan and exercise.

Anyway, I kind of veered off track and got focused on a diet that is my personal favorite there. But the bottom line is that there are many 7 day plans for weight loss and that they can be good and bad, they can offer quick weight loss or focused long term plans. They will offer cheats and trick or tips and help and depending on your attitude toward your weight loss goals you can choose pretty much the perfect 7 day plan for weight loss for yourself without much trouble.

7 Day Diet Plan

When it comes to choosing a diet plan there can be so much information and so many diets available for you to consume it can actually be overwhelming. So today I thought we would take a look at a couple of different 7 Day Diet Plans as they are some of the most popular diets around.

First let’s talk about what makes the 7 Day Diets so popular?  The answer is pretty simple.  Most diets or weight loss goals are set for short term issues.  You want to lose some weight for pictures, or to fit into a dress, or just to look good at the beech next week and as humans we are just programmed to think in terms of days and weeks.  So it is natural for us to look at the 7 day diet as a perfect weight loss plan.

Some Popular 7 Day Diet Plans:

The 7 Day Smart Diet Plan

This one is kind of sneaky, it is a 7 day diet plan, but at the same time it really focuses on helping you lose 10lbs in 30 days.  That’s right 30 not 7. The 7 day diet plan is 7 days of meals and tips that you apply to a four week period.

The Seven Day Meal Plan Diet

The Seven Day Meal Plan Diet proposes up to 20 lbs of weight loss in just 7 days.  If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.  Also it is probably unhealthy.  Unless you are morbidly obese it is unlikely and unhealthy for you to lose that much weight that quickly.

The 7 Day Diet

The most extreme and least nutritionally balance 7 Day Diet Plan has got to be the 7 Day Diet itself.  This diet uses an extremely strict meal plan that severely limits your daily intake of calories, as well as the types of foods you are eating.  I think there is actually a day of eating only 5 bananas and water or something ridiculous like that.

Are 7 Day Diet Plans Health?

Honestly, that question is too broad.  The latter of the diets listed above are likely unhealthy to do on a regular basis.  I don’t think you are going to risk your health by trying them, but I am not a trained medical professional and would recommend you consult your physician before you start any of the 7 Day Diet Plans.

The first of the diets listed above is actually a pretty sound diet.  It uses proven dieting tactics and combines them with healthy meals and exercise.  If I were you I would suggest finding a diet that sounds reasonable, provides you with good healthy food, and has some sort of exercise plan to go with it.  Because we all know the fastest, easiest, and best way to lose weight is by eating right and exercising. There is no way to cheat that.

7 Day Bikini Diet

Summer is here and although you may not be in the shape you are looking for yet, there is no reason you can’t get into that bikini and head to the beach.  Still to nervous about those extra pounds you put on during the winter?

Well don’t be. Today we have got a great diet for getting you back into that bikini quickly. The 7 Day Bikini Diet will help you lose up to 7 pounds in just 7 days.

What is the 7 Day Bikini Diet All About?

Unlike most fad diets this 7 day diet is really about jump starting yourself toward completely a long term diet program, but the side effect of that is fast weight loss to help you reach a short term goal quickly.

Most diets focus on 1 of 2 things.  Either reaching a goal quickly and then stopping or being healthy for life.

What is nice about the 7 day bikini diet is that it gives you a short term goal, but emphasizes eating and exercising for the long term.

How the 7 Day Bikini Diet Works:

The 7 Day Bikini Diet is pretty simple. Follow healthy eating habits for 7 days and mix in a little bit of light cardiovascular exercise.

Eat lots of lean protein.  Chicken, salmon, tuna, and turkey are all great ways to add protein to your diet without the extra fat from red meats.  Cutting fat isn’t the number 1 priority because there are some fats that are good for you and actually help weight loss.  For example the fat Omega-3 in salmon is actually a good fat. Keep your portions of meat to about 4 oz.  You really don’t need that much to get the benefits of it and you will be happier to fill your stomach with green vegetable and fruits because that is where you will find the vitamins and minerals you need to jump start weight loss.

Yogurt, cheese, milk and dairy products help boost weight loss pretty quickly.  Be sure in to include some sort of dairy into every meal that you eat during the day.

Counting calories can be a tricky pony.  More often that not you end up starving yourself because you had that Pepsi and now you only have 1000 calories left for the day.  Don’t over do it counting calories, but if you can stay between 1300 and 1600 calories a day that come from fresh fruit, vegetables, and lean meats then you are guaranteed to lose weight.

Finally eat natural diuretics.  Some diets overuse coffee because it pulls water from your cells and makes you lose water weight.  But if you eat Asparagus for example a great green vegetable that has vitamins in it you will find that is also has the properties of a diuretic and will help you shape up a bit by reducing some of the bloating you may have.

7 Day Bikini Diet Meals

Make your own meals.  It is pretty simple find your favorite fruits, veggies, meats, and cheeses and make portion controlled meals for yourself and in 7 days you will be ready for that bikini.  Once the 7 days is over you will hopefully have fallen in love with the great new recipes you are making with excited healthy foods. Then you will be on the path to living the healthy lifestyle and having the great body you have always wanted.

7 Day Abs Diet

The Abs Diet by Men’s Health Magazine Editor David Zinczenko is actually my personal favorite diet plan.  I have read the book, and the follow up book, and have the recipe book all sitting at home on my bookshelf waiting to be references for the next time I need help controlling my weight and building a healthy lifestyle.

The funny thing about this diet is that, it isn’t actually a diet and it most certainly doesn’t last only 7 days.

Instead the Abs Diet is a lifestyle. It is a solution to help you build a healthy relationship with food and exercise.  It is an opportunity for you to learn how food affects your body and why.  It will teach you what to eat, why you need it, and what it even offers up tons of recipes to make some really fantastic meals.

The Abs Diets isn’t a 7 day diet, but a 6 week plan to weight loss through clean eating and exercise.  The Abs diet is meant to change your life for the better.

If you are a little frustrated by the Abs Diet being more that what you expected I can understand that. Fortunately for you David, the author of the book, has put together a simple 7 day Abs Diet meal plan that can help get you started on you new lifestyle in healthy living.

7 Day 1200 Calorie Diet

A 1200 Calorie diet seems to be pretty common, so does a 7 day diet. So it wasn’t much surprise to me when I found that there were several result sets returned when I searched for a 7 Day 1200 Calorie Diet. However there was 1 in particular that stood out from the crowd. So I will discuss it in depth below.

But first let’s veer a little off topic and talk about why both 1200 calorie and 7 day diets are popular.

1200 calories is a number many time associated with the lowest number of calories your body needs to survive on. This number is generally associated with females, for males the number tends to be around 1500 calories. This is a very popular target because people now have an idea of where they can go with the eating habits and still stay healthy.

7 Days on the other hand offers nothing significant other than it is the length of a week and as humans we have an undeniable liking to giving diets a time limit we are very comfortable and familiar with.

So in turn in only seemed logical that at some point somebody would come up with a 7 Day 1200 Calorie diet.

As I mentioned above there were several variations of the diet that I found while searching for information, but the one I describe below I felt was the most well rounded of them all and gave the best options of food and a schedule for eating.

11 Day Fad Diet

11 Day Fad Diet

Although the 11 Day Diet is popular, I don’t feel like it ever quite popular enough to be coined a fad diet.  In my opinion it is more aptly named a yo-yo diet as the end result of the diet is weight loss that you are likely to regain after you return to normal eating habits. None the less many people disagree with my opinion so for this article I will suspend my opinion and describe a bit about the “11 day fad diet”.

What is the 11 Day Fad Diet?

The 11 Day Fad Diet, commonly known as the 11 day diet or the idiot proof diet is an 11 diet nutrition program that can be purchased from a website called weigh loss for idiots.

The diet uses a diet generator that creates a “specific” meal plan for your 11 days weight loss period.  I put the word specific in parenthesis because the diet generator is truly nothing more that a list randomizer that has been filled with meals that you are randomly assigned over a 9 day period.  Basically there is nothing specific about it and it is just random luck.

The 11 day fad diet is designed similar to the muscle confusion program in the p90x diet. The theory is that if you don’t let your body get used to a specific menu or exercise plan it will not be able to settle into a rut, which is part of the reason you have not been able to keep excess weight off.

I don’t believe in this diet.  I do not think that you metabolism has quite the memory that this diet is portraying it as having.

If I were you I would suggest going to see your family physician, a nutritionist, or a dietician and planning a healthy meal plan and exercise routine made specifically for you.  The 11 Day fad diet was created by internet marketers in order to sell subscriptions to a website and should not be completed without proper medical advice.  But I feel this is the case with any fad diet. You should always check with your doctor to make sure there are no health risks involved before starting a diet.

HCG 40 Day Diet

Friday, June 11th, 2010

The HCG Diet is often referred to as the 40 day diet despite the existence of several, very different, 40 day diets.

The reason that the HCG diet is often referred to as the 40 day diet is because even though the HCG diet may last for a much shorter time if the dieter needs to lose only a few pounds, most dieters who choose to use HCG need to lose a considerable amount of weight. When using this method, a dieter can expect to lose approximately 1 pound a day. Since the HCG ceases to be effective for weight loss after 40 days or so, that is the usual amount of time that a specialist will put their patient on the HCG diet. The dieter would then take a break of several days to several weeks or months and then begin the HCG treatments again- usually for another 40 day time period.

Of course, all of this will depend on the amount of weight that you want to lose, how quickly you want to lose it, and on the recommendations of your specialist, though many dieters choose to obtain and treat themselves with HCG on their own.

If you choose to go it alone, it’s absolutely vital that you find a good resource of information, an accurate diet plan, and high quality HCG. HCG can be purchased as a powder which can be mixed for injection or mixed to take orally (dropping or spraying under the tongue) and sometimes in cream or other forms. However, the general concensus is that HCG injections are the most effective. For this, you’ll need sterile equipment and insulin needles (without the actual insulin, of course).

While there are certainly many reviews available for the HCG diet, nearly all HCG injection dieters have positive things to say about the diet. Other forms of HCG get mixed reviews, but on the whole, the diet is quite popular.

Diet access 11 day diet

Getting access to the 11 day diet, or idiot proof diet, is very easy.  You simply need to visit there website and sign up. The subscription will cost $39.00. However before you go spend your hard earned money on diet access to the 11 day diet I suggest we take a minute and find out what that is going to get you.

The 11 day diet program found at fatloss4idiots.com offers access to their 11 day diet program in two different ways.  In aptly named diet package #1 and diet package #2  are downloadable from their website after you pay the fee of $39.00 dollars or $16.95 depending on which package you choose.

Diet Package 1 gets you access to the online diet generator or the tool they claim generates the specific meal plan you need to follow over the 11 day period in order to lose 9 pounds.  The #1 diet package also allows you access to the diet handbook. Which unfortunately they don’t really describe all that well on the site.

Diet package 2 on the other hand is a package they are calling beyond calories and is simply a add on to diet package 1.  Beyond calories is diet access to more tips and tricks to losing weight fast. They say that access to diet package too will talk about a “totally different way to lose weight using H.S. Food”.  Now I don’t know what H.S. foods are and from the additional info that says “You’ll learn about H.S. Foods if you add on this product” it think it is just a moniker that made up for a new diet plan.

So for roughly $60.00 you can get diet access for the 11 day diet in 2 ways.  I personally wouldn’t do it, but on their checkout page the do offer a guarantee which is rare when it comes to weight loss systems.  According to the sales page you can get a 60 day weight loss guarantee or you will get 100% of your money back.

So if you decide to give it a shot be sure to give us a shout back and let us know how it went.
