When it comes to dieting, everyone needs a system to be effective. Luckily, the 3 day diet system is perfect for people that are trying to lose weight in a short period of time, but don’t want to do all the physical activity that comes along with it. But before I go any further, let me just say that all diets are great, but they need to be followed up with rigorous workout schedules if you expect to keep the weight off permanently. This is just the truth.

With that said, let’s get down to the business of the 3 day diet systems.

Purpose of the 3 Day Diet System

Obviously, the purpose of the 3 day diet system is to get you to lose weight in 3 days. It doesn’t take rocket scientist to figure this out. However, this is done by eating certain foods that are suppose to do specific things to your body to get the reactions you need in order to lose weight.

The concept is to get your body to speed up its metabolism rate to burn more calories than usual. This is coupled by the fact that you will not be eating a lot of calories in the first place, so this is suppose to be easier than your typical day to burn fat and lose weight. However, speeding up the metabolism hasn’t been scientifically proven, even though you can find many fitness and diet gurus that tell you it has been. Just be careful when you hear the claims behind many of these diet plans.

In addition to this, the foods that you eat will keep you regularly visiting the bathroom to excrete the remains or waste in your body. This does work because we all are prone to keep food and waste stored in our body for extra pounds. And the fruits and vegetables that are in the diet are great for making this happen, so not everything in connection with the 3 day diet is a bunch of crap. This will happen for you.

Types of 3 Day Diet Systems

One of the great things about the 3 day diet is the number of variations that are available. You can really tailor the type of diet you want and need to your taste buds because there are so many to choose from. Instead of running through the entire list, I am going to select a few specific ones to tell you a little bit about. But I encourage you to take a look at the rest of the site and select the diets that best fit your wants, needs, and taste.

3 Day Tuna Diet – That’s right, tuna. If you are a big fan or love the nutritional element that tuna brings to your weight loss goals, then this is the diet for you. It is not like you have to eat nothing but tuna, yet the variety in this diet is great.

3 Day Grapefruit Diet – Where are all my grapefruit lovers? We have a diet plan for you as well. I am one of those people that absolutely love grapefruit, so when I learned there was a diet centered around it I was all for it without any hesitations. This one here is more fruit based, but seems like it could be very effective if followed up with exercise.

3 Day Chemical Breakdown Diet – This is one of those diets that is based on causing chemical reactions in your body that is designed to help weight loss. This is also one of those diets that haven’t been proven.

3 Day Birmingham Diet

The 3 Day Birmingham Diet which is generally referred to as the 3 Day Cardiac diet is a fad or yoyo diet that misleads would be dieters by promising weight loss of up to 10 lbs in just 3 days. The diet will help you lose weight; unfortunately it is through improper use of low calorie intake and diuretics.  This means an unhealthy way to lose weight for dieters that are ultimately going to result in future weight gain.

The concept behind the diet is that by following a very strict meal plan for 3 days the body will basically go through a magic change or metabolic transformation in which you will start burning fat faster than you normally would.

The 3 Day Birmingham diet is basically just hogwash.  The creators of this diet have simply changed the name of the original 3 day diet that was created in the 1980s and attached the name of a respected health organization to it in order to help them sell their diet and make money off of it.

The diet tries to convince you to follow a strict eating plan that does not offer a smart variety of clean foods or exercise plan to manage your weight loss goals.  After completing the diet and returning to your normal eating patterns and behaviors you will likely gain any weight back that you lost, and maybe more.

The problem with low calorie diets is that you are forcing your body to live of the fat and muscle that your body already has to create energy that it would normally get from the foods that you eat.  So when you return to normal eating your body then stores more fats so that the next time it needs the excess it will have it readily available.

If you are looking to lose weight I would suggest you consult your family physician or a nutritionist and creating a healthy menu and exercise plan.  This way your relationship with food will be a positive one and you will be set up with a path to succeed in the long term.  Staying away from fad diets like the 3 Day Birmingham Diet is a smart idea because you are only hurting yourself by trying to cheat your way to a thinner body.

Remember that it is more important to be healthy that it is to be thin.  If you can accomplish the goal of being healthy, you will be at the weight you want to in no time.  If you do the 3 Day Birmingham Diet you will be yo-yoing your weight up and down and not helping yourself in any way.

3 Day Cleveland Clinic Diet

This diet involves 3 days of strict eating, no exercise, and has dieters and experts on opposite sides of the fence about whether it works.  But before we get into the diets specifics lets take a look at the history of the 3 Day Cleveland Clinic Diet.

About the 3 Day Cleveland Clinic Diet:

Supposedly named after a diet plan created by physicians of the Cleveland Clinic this diet was meant to help patients lose up to 10 pounds in 3 days time in order to better prepare them for surgery.  However much like most of the aliases given to the 3 Day diet this in a falsehood.

The Cleveland Clinic, the American Heart Association, the Kaiser Permanente are all reputable healthcare organizations, clinics, and hospitals that have come out denying any association with this diet.  Each of them having a variation of the diet named after them like 3 Day American Heart Association Diet, and 3 Day Kaiser Diet for example.

The 3 Day Cleveland Clinic Diet is actually just an alias for the 3 day diet that was created in the mid 1980s as a fad diet.

What does the 3 Day Cleveland Clinic Diet Involve?

The diet plan itself is simple.  Eat these specific meals for 3 days and your body will have a “unique metabolic” transformation that will help you lose 10 pounds.

In reality the diet just provides you with a low calorie meal plan that will cut your food intake and you will experience no metabolic change.  The diet also advocates drinking a few cups of coffee a day, which will help reduce water weight inside your body and may be a part of your weight loss.

For those of you that do not know, coffee is a diuretic.  A diuretic is a substance that pulls excess water from your cells and makes you relieve yourself more frequently.  In laymen’s terms in makes you go pee more.  Drinking too much coffee is not good for you as it can dehydrate your body.  While completing the 3 day diet you should drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, but be prepared for the diet to be less effective in terms of weight loss if you do because they authors of the diet are banking on the loss of water weight to reach the goal of 10 pounds.

Yes, you will see results. No they won’t last.  The diet says after 3 days to return to normal eating.  When you do this you will likely gain back all the weight that you lost. The few, the proud, the in shape. Say what you will about the war on terror, the war in Iraq, or any war for that matter, but don’t say the United States Military is not in shape. This is not a political site and I am not here to sway your views on what is right our wrong with our countries military, but I can introduce to you the 3 day Military Diet.

What is the 3 Day Military Diet?

Also known as the 3 Day Army Diet the military diet is a short term diet and exercise regimen designed to get you in the shape needed to accomplish the requisite tests you will take in order to enter boot camp.

The 3 day military diet is not the long term solution or guide to becoming a military expert or their specific health program. Instead it is a quick diet to lose a few pounds, and prepare you for the entrance pushup, sit-up, and running requirements of the US military.

What is the 3 Day Military Diet Menu?

There isn’t a specific menu. Instead there is a guide to healthy eating. The 3 day Military Diet suggests eating lean protein such as fish, turkey, chicken, 93% lean ground beef or above, fresh green vegetables, beans, nuts, fruits, and extra whey protein to help build a long term nutrition plans that will help you get fit and stay fit.

What is the 3 Day Military Diet Exercise Plan?

It is really quite simple. In order to get into basic training you need to be able to accomplish certain goals; one for pushups, one for sit-ups, and one for running. So we are going to get you up to snuff in those three areas. Follow these instructions to a T and you will be losing weight and ready to go for BT, or just whatever goal you have set for yourself.

Start by doing as many pushups as you can without stopping, immediately flip over and do as many sit-ups as you can without stopping. Rest for 30 seconds and then repeat until you can’t do anymore.

This method of training is going to build muscle, burn fat, and since you are doing the exercises without much rest it keeps your heart rate higher giving the workout cardio like results.

Finally run/walk 2miles a day. You must finish the 2 miles whether it is running or walking. Give yourself a goal to beat your previous days time.

The 3 Day Kaiser Diet, often called the 3 Day Kaiser Permanente Diet, is simply an alias for the original 3 day diet. The diet itself does not differ in any way from the 3 day diet; it in fact follows the exact same nutrition plan and guidelines for performing the 3 Day Diet.

The 3 Day Kaiser Diet is named after one of America’s leading health organizations Kaiser Permanente. The reason the diet is named this was simply so that the creators of the diet could use the name of the respected organization to promote the diet and make money of off it. The Kaiser Permanente organization actually has no affiliation with the diet.

This is a common practice for marketers of the 3 day diet and its other pseudonyms; many people have renamed the diet with aliases such as the 3 Day Cleveland Clinic Diet, the 3 Day Birmingham Diet, The 3 Day National Heart Association Diet. And when it comes down to it all of the prior organization have no affiliate and have generally come out speaking against the diet.

What Is The 3 Day Kaiser Diet?

The diet involves following a strict meal plan that includes 3 meals a day for 3 days. The diet is comprised of low calories and diuretics which will help stimulate short term weight loss. The 3 Day Kaiser Diet does not include any exercise and does not continue for more than 3 days. After you have completed the diet it is suggested that you return to eating normally for 4 to 5 days before attempting to do the diet again.

The most asked question about the 3 day diet is; what are the 3 day diet results? Or similar what kind of results will I see with the 3 day diet, how much weight will I lose on the three day diet, etc…

The answer: depending on whom you talk to will vary from 2 pounds to the full 10 advertised pounds.

However the likelihood of the 3 day diet results being 10 pounds is pretty much slim to none.

There are constant arguments about whether the diet is healthy, unhealthy, good, bad, so on and so forth. But one thing I have noticed while researching the 3 day diet is that although the results may vary, there almost always seems to be some sort of positive results. People almost always seem to be losing some kind of weight.

You may have read one or two of my other articles on the 3 day diet already, and if you have you will know that I don’t think very highly of the diet. I personally feel like it creates a bad relationship with food, exercise, and will eventually lead to further weight gain. This diet is not aimed at building a healthy lifestyle, but with that said it does do a very good job of helping you lose weight, and most of the time that is exactly what we are looking to do.

The combination of low caloric intake from the strict nutrition plan and the loss of water weight from drinking coffee will undoubtedly help you see the results you are looking for fast.

I would expect the results of the 3 day diet to be more around 3 to 4 lbs than 10. Simply because losing more that a pound a day on any diet is unlikely, especially one in which you are not utilizing exercising, building muscle, or burning fat. And you are ultimately just starving and dehydrating yourself.

The 3 day diet fad is here to stay. When it was first introduced in the 1980s, most people and fitness experts predicted that it would only be around for a few years at best. They didn’t believe that people would want to take this route to lose weight because it doesn’t represent a consistently healthy lifestyle, but were they wrong.

People have really taken to the opportunity to fit into that little black dress or drop a few pounds before a big event and don’t show any signs of letting this feeling going. The world has always wanted quick results with  minimum effort and the 3 day diet fad is just one representation of this being true.

Is the 3 Day Diet Fad Right For You?

With the above said, don’t feel bad because you might be looking for a short cut or a quick fix. It is the way of the world and if you are dedicated to follow the regiment, then perhaps this might be the right thing for you at the moment. But to answer the question is this the right diet plan for you is something that is up to you.

It is recommended that you consult with your doctor before entering into any type of diet or even fitness plans as your past physical condition has a lot to do with what your body can handle today. If you have not been eating right, have a medical condition or something else, then fad diets such as the 3 day chemical breakdown diet, 3 day grapefruit diet, 3 day heart diet, or the 3 day tuna diet might not be the right thing for you.

5 plain saltine crackers

2 regular hotdogs
½ a cup of carrots

1 cup of broccoli / cabbage

1 banana

DAY 3

Does the Chemical 3 Day Diet Work?

The Chemical 3 Day Diet will help you lose weight. But, it does not work as it is described.

Eating the specific menu above does not create a chemical breakdown or metabolic reaction to help you lose 10 lbs in three days. The likely explanation for weight loss during the 3 day diet is that you are not eating enough food and you are dehydrating your body.

The regimented menu for the diet is too few calories for you body to be satisfied. Basically your body will not be receiving the nutrients it needs in order to create the energy you need on a daily basis. Your body will then start burning fat, and muscle in order to find the energy it needs. Second the overuse of diuretics such as coffee simply pulls more water from your cells and in response much of the weight you lose is water weight.

This means after you have completed the diet and you return to normal food and drink intake you are likely to gain back the weight that you lost.

Is the Chemical 3 Day Diet Healthy?

From a health standpoint you should consult your family physician before beginning the diet. The Chemical 3 Day Diet is not specifically unhealthy, but depending on your medical history, allergies, or any medications you may be taking the risk factors will differ.

Psychologically the 3 Day Diet does not benefit your long term weight loss goals. Proper diet and exercise are the best and smartest ways to lose weight. Using a short term fad diet such as this will only create an unhealthy relationship with food, weight loss, and exercise.

Finishing the Chemical 3 Day Diet is more likely to leave you dehydrated and amped to gain the weight back or even gain more weight that before.

The 3 Day Diet is a meal plan devised to help you lose 10 lbs in 3 days time. This diet however is not considered to be a healthy diet or positive reinforcement on healthy eating or exercise. The reason that many people lose weight on the 3 day diet is because it combines a lower than normal calorie intake with the use of common diuretics which will help you reduce the amount of water weight in your body.

To complete the day diet you must follow a very strict meal plan for 3 days. This combined with drinking diuretics such as coffee should help you lose weight quickly. The diet does not require any type of exercise and does not offer any recommendation on exercises if you were interested participating in any.

The 3 day diet will not provide you with a solution for long term weight loss. In most cases you will experience some sort of short term weight loss that you will gain back once you begin eating normally.

The reason we like completing a 3 day diet is for all the obvious reasons and a few extra. To start off, the 3 day diet is only three days which makes it great cause many people cannot commit to getting something done that has a long commitment time and takes a lot of dedication.
