7 Day Crash Diet

Seven Day Crash Diet

There may be many types of 7 day crash diet, but there is only one well known 7 day diet and that diet is the cabbage soup diet.

Now, not every 7 day diet that I’ve seen mentions the cabbage soup, but almost every single one copies the menu for the cabbage soup diet exactly- except for the actual soup. This 7 day crash diet focuses on confusing your body by allowing you to eat as much as you want from only one or two food groups a day, and rotating the allowed foods. For instance, one day may be nothing but fruit, another day is nothing but vegetables, another day allows for both fruit and vegetables, and another day allows for bananas and skim milk. One day allows for as much beef as you want plus vegetables (potatoes not allowed), and another day calls for fruit juice and brown rice!

When this is referred to as the cabbage soup diet, claims are made that there are special fat burning properties in cabbage. While cabbage is indeed a very healthy vegetable (providing that it’s cooked as raw cabbage can suppress the thyroid), there is no known study that proves that it can burn fat. While on the cabbage soup diet, you can eat as much of the cabbage soup as you wish in addition to the other foods that are allowed.

However, some of the 7 day crash diets that I’ve seen did not even mention cabbage soup- they simply copied the menu and left that out! So, it’s your choice whether you want to follow the original diet, soup included, or leave it out as many of these others have. The cabbage soup certainly has few calories and would help to fill out your meals, but on the other hand, it does take time to prepare!

Whether you choose to use the cabbage soup version of the 7 day crash diet, or simply follow the rest of the menu plan but without the soup is totally up to you. The soup is nutritious and will help to keep you from feeling deprived, but it’s a bit of work to prepare, and of course you won’t be able to start right away. A special trip to the grocery store would be required for most people, plus prep and cooking time, though a big batch can be made all at once for convenience.

And, of course, after studying all available options, you may just decide to make your own 7 day crash diet!
