7 Day Cabbage Soup Diet

Seven Day Cabbage Soup Diet

I’ve had many friends try the 7 day cabbage soup diet. Surprisingly, none of them made it through the full 7 day diet. Almost all of them did, however, develop a taste for the cabbage soup and added it into their normal eating habits with a few tweaks here and there (usually to make it spicier).

I think the main difficulty that they had with sticking to the 7 day cabbage soup diet is that each day features a new restrictive diet. You may eat as much of whatever is allowed for that day as you want, but you can have ONLY what’s listed for that day. For example, there is a bananas and skim milk day. Only bananas and skim milk (in addition to the cabbage soup and water).

While none of my friends have managed the full 7 days (at least, not in a row), I’ve read many accounts online of people who have. Almost all claim that they have lost between 6 and 12 lbs in the 7 days though I did notice a few people who claimed to have not lost anything at all. It is possible that these people were already eating a very low calorie meal plan before starting the diet, but it’s also possible that the diet simply affects people differently. It is known that those with sensitivities to certain foods tend to gain weight when eating those foods (for example, gluten or soy).

The major benefit to the 7 day cabbage soup diet over other short term diets is that you’re allowed to eat as much as you want every day and still lose weight! The down side is that most of the weight that you lose will actually be water weight, rather than fat. That being said, the 7 day cabbage soup diet is a great way to jump start a healthier diet.
