About The 11 Day Diet

The 11 Day Diet plan is based on an interesting principle. According to FatLoss4Idiots (they claim that this is an idiot proof diet), this diet works by confusing your body. According to them, when your body knows how much of what foods you eat regularly, your body’s metabolism will slow down in order to conserve energy. At best, this means that you’ll maintain your weight, at worst, you’ll gain weight.

They claim that this is what’s wrong with diets today- they feature the same or similar foods day in and day out, with a recognizable pattern that your body will adjust to accommodate- particularly the diets that deny certain parts of the food groups (fat, sugar, carbs). The 11 Day system lies in its ability to generate a different diet for each day- with the exception of day 2 of the 11 day cycle, which consists of a sandwich for the first meal and nothing but fruit for the rest of the day.

The 11 day diet generator will allow you to input your favorite 30 foods, and the generator will use this information to form 4 meals a day for each of the 11 days. Diet after the 11th day returns more or less to normal for 3 days, meaning that you can eat whatever you want, just don’t stuff yourself with it. Then, back to the eleven day diet cycle.

While you can’t get the 11 day diet plan free, you can get free 11 day diet menu samples while searching around. These may not be ideally suited to you, however, as each of these menu samples are drawn from that dieter’s preferred foods list.

11 Day Diet Menu Plan

The sample 11 day diet menus that I’ve seen were specifically generated for the dieters that posted them.  But here are a few choice samples from the meal plans that I’ve seen, or click here to view more information on the 11 day diet.

11 Day Diet Protocol

Also known as the calorie shifting diet, this meal plan depends on a constant changing of your meals, so even if you particularly like one day’s meals, you’ll need to keep changing up your food. This shouldn’t be difficult, however, as generator uses your food preferences to build the diet.

While it’s a good idea to follow the individual foods listed for each meal, there will be times when a certain combination just won’t seem palatable (one reviewer mentioned a meal consisting of cheese and sour cream- the generator truly is random), and you may need to find your own substitutions.

The basic 11 day diet meal plan is for 4 meals a day. You’re to eat one meal approximately every 2 1/2 hours, preferably in the order that the generator chooses for you. It is recommended that you drink at least 8-10 glasses of water a day, and that other beverages not contain more than 10 calories per glass. The 2nd day in every cycle is listed as a sandwich followed by fruit for the rest of the day, but the rest of the 11 day cycle is totally random. After the 11th day, you can eat whatever you want for 3 days, but not to make yourself over full, and then return to the 11 day cycle.

In addition to the randomized food plan, you’ll be instructed to eat only until you’re not hungry any longer- not until you’re full. It is also recommended that you begin taking light walks to accellerate your weight loss.

11 Day Diet Review

You can see by the sample foods list in the menu section that the 11 day diet consists mainly of protein and complex carbohydrates. Fruit and vegetables do appear, but are certainly in the minority. While a largely protein based diet has been proven to cause weight loss over and over again, it is not a healthy lifestyle to maintain.

There are a few keys there that I know are healthy and work fairly well, and they’re utilized well in this diet. The first is grazing. Grazing has been known to be a healthier way to eat, and naturally lowers calories (assuming that you aren’t grazing on candy and ice cream). This simply means that you eat before you’re truly hungry, but you stop before you feel full. Lots of very small meals or snacks throughout the day. Since you never really get hungry or full, your body maintains a fairly level amount of energy.

The second part that I like about this diet is that they encourage you to eat every 2 1/2 hours or so. Some studies show that your body’s metabolism resets itself every 4 hours. So, if you’re maintaining a certain level of relatively healthy food in your system, your metabolism won’t slow down because your body won’t think that it’s hungry and begin to operate in starvation/conservation mode. Contrary to popular opinion, starving yourself has a negative effect on your metabolism, and should be avoided, even in crash diets.

Over all? I could wish that there were more fruits and vegetables on this diet, but it does seem to be a much healthier model than many others that I’ve seen.
